Hamburger (1 lb)
4 Cups Noodles
1-Can Tomato Sauce
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 1/2 Cups Water

Just make this the same way you make hamburger helper, all in the skillet. Brown the meat, drain the fat, add the liquids and seasoning, and the add the noodles and cook until tender.

If you wanted a Mexican dish, you would add spices like cumin, and instead of adding noodles to the mixture, you could add some Fritos or Tortilla chips.

1 lb grount meat (I use turkey)
1 onion finely chopped
1 1/2 cups water
1 jar your favorite tomato sauce (Prego garlic & onion)
pasta – your choice (I like Campanelle)
cheese

Brown the meat, drain the fat, push to the sides of skillet. Brown the onion in the middle. Then combine meat and onion, add the wet ingredients, add some pasta and simmer until done. Top with grated cheese. I love tons of locatelli.

the other day my husband made taco filling with veggie crumbles (vegitarian hamburger) and taco seasoning. I had already eaten so there were lots of leftovers. a few days later I put a can of plain tomato soup, heated it, added some rotini and cooked the rotini in the soup for about 7 min I think, then I added the leftover taco filling and a little salsa. it only took another min for the sauce to thicken and the “meat” to be heated. it was really quite good. like hamburger helper, but better my husband said.

This is one of my family’s favorite recipes, especially the teenagers. This has been a favorite of theirs since I first started making this several years ago. I got tired of having to purchase 2+ boxes of Hamburger Helper so I experimented on my own and this is what I came up with.

Brown 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of ground meat/ground chuck in skillet and drain any excess fat. I usually add a bit of Tony’s Seasoning. In separate pot boil a package of egg noodles. I use the entire package for a family of 5. I then take out my 5 qt. dutch oven and mix noodles, ground meat and a large can of Hunts Spaghetti Sauce. This comes in several different flavors: Three Cheese, Italian, Mushroom, Garlic and Cheese, Herbs and Spices so you can vary the recipe each time you make it. There are several other brands of sauce on the market and I’m sure this would do well with just about any, just depends on your personal preferences.

This is also an inexpensive meal. The meat comes to around $2.50 (if purchased on sale), egg noodles $.89 and the spaghetti sauce $.79-.89, seasoning (in house). This feeds my crew (seconds included) and sometimes we even have a serving left over!

I find this recipe much healthier than the Hamburger Helper also. It doesn’t contain as much sodium or all the preservatives that are added to their sauces. If you are like me and need 2-3 boxes of Hamburger Helper to feed your family, this recipe will save you money. It is also a great meal to serve when you don’t feel like a full meal or have time for fixing a big meal. I keep these ingredients in the house for emergencies. And guys, this is easy enough for you to fix also!
